Fortune smiled on Fishpool Street when the rain stopped just in time for our ‘Big Lunch’ street party to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Residents and their friends poured on to the street with platters of food to share and, to many people’s surprise and delight, the rain held off throughout the afternoon.
Thanks to all those who stepped in at the last minute with their gazebos ‘just in case’ and to St Albans School for lending us loads of tables.
And special thanks to Madeleine Sansom and Rosie Cinicolo who organised the event, to the band of songsters who sang their hearts out to numbers such as Abba’s Dancing Queen, and to all the volunteers who helped close the road and set up ‘The Big Lunch’.
